Morphs Ghost: This is a rare morph within the UK, with only a few breeders in the country. The morph originates from the USA and was created by Dachiu, the Ghost morph was developed in 2006/07 by breeding a Cawley Red with a Hypo Red/Orange German Giant. The name Ghost was given due to the white colour they turn when in shed. There are two forms, hypo's with clear nails, and het. hypo's. As babies they do not look particularly special, but they grow into stunning adults. They veer towards hypomelanistic, with the black pigments appearing as faded 'watered down' colouration in the patterning, which will appear 'soft' without definition. Ghosts are a pinky/green colour with pale blue markings on the body. Adult Ghost's are visually unique, a truly stunning dragon. Translucent: This morph lacks white pigments, and has sections of transparent skin where light is able to pass through; giving a translucent effect. They also lack reflective cells in their eyes, causing them to appear pure black. Leatherbacks: Have less reptilian scales on their back, giving them a smooth, leather-like feel. Silkbacks: A result of breeding two leatherbacks, this extremely rare morph has no scales, giving them smooth and silky skin. Tiger Morph: Tigers are Homozygous (dominant gene). One parent must be a Tiger morph in order to produce Tiger babies. Any bearded dragon clutch with blue side bars will be deemed a 'visual tiger', but will not reproduce the trait. As babies, Tigers are a dark, sooty, charcoal colour with black 'zebra-like' markings. They get lighter with every shed until they reproduce their parental morph colours with purple/blue side bars. Tiger's can be any colour morph, as long as one parent is a Tiger morph. Mark. Leucistic: The phrase 'marketed' was added as a prefix to leucistic, when the breeder wrongly thought he had successfully created a true leucistic dragon, a true leucistic (Leucism: inability to produce colour) is yet to actually be produced. Mark. Leucistic's are in fact very lightly coloured hypo's. Hypomelanistic (Hypo's): This morph has reduced black/brown pigmentation, light nails and pale colouration compared to normal morphs. Heterozygous (Hypo-Het's): These dragons carry the hypomelanistic gene, although they are visually a standard morph, with dark nails and pigmentation, their scales are lighter than that of a normal beardie. these are still interesting to breed, when bred with another hypo or hypo-het they produce a certain amount of hypo babies. The following is a guide of what you can expect from breeding hypo's/het's: Hypo x Hypo = 100% Hypo's Hypo x Hypo-Het = 50% Hypo's, 50% Het's Hypo-Het x Hypo-Het = 50% Hypo-Het, 25% Hypo, 25% Normal (Called 66% possible Het-Hypo) Hypo x Normal = 100% Hypo-Het Hypo-Het x Normal = 50% Hypo-Het, 50% Normal (Called 50% possible Het-Hypo)
Pukka Dragons Grading System
Here at Pukka Dragons we use a grading system ranging from 1-10, 1 being at the low end of the scale, 10 being the highest. The following explains our system:
Grades 1-3: These Dragons have less dominant genes, and make for ideal pets. Grades 4-7: The colour of these dragons is not as striking as the higher grades, but make ideal breeding stock to introduce specific morphs to your collection. Grades 8-9: Not only do these dragons have dominant genes, ideal for breeding, they are also aesthetically pleasing, with bright and vivid colouration. Grade 10: Visually stunning dragons, also very rare, with perhaps one or two produced per clutch.
